Manual Lymphatic Drainage
The Lymphatic System is a key to your body’s immune defenses and a major contributor to your health.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage will assist the body in clearing out built up waste, filtering debris and rendering harmful bacteria and toxins harmless. Improving your lymphatic circulation increases your immune response and your overall general vitality.
Every day 2-4 liters of lymph fluid circulates around your body. Lymph fluid leaks from your blood vessels into body tissue spaces and then seeps into your lymph vessels along with tissue substances containing foreign particles, waste, bacteria and toxins (e.g. viruses, alcohol, chemicals, candida yeasts or spider venom).
Major lymph nodes are located under your chin, in the creases of your elbows and knees and within your armpit and groin regions. They produce crucial white blood cells, macrophages (eater cells) and lymphocytes. Macrophages engulf foreign particles, harmful bacteria, toxins and cellular debris, breaking them down into smaller particles. The presence of macrophages stimulates the lymphocytes to reproduce powerful antibodies which form an overall defensive shield against infections.
During the treatment the congested lymphatic fluid is gently and slowly pumped towards your subclavian veins (near the midline of your collarbones). This is where your lymph fluid is introduced back to your blood stream. Your blood then transports the broken down particles to your liver and spleen where they can be easily filtered from your body.
