Oncology Massage
An Oncology massage is specifically designed for someone who is currently going through or has recently completed any type of cancer treatment.
Oncology Massage differs from a standard massage by its use of light touch therapies, such as swedish massage, craniosacral therapy, reiki and positional release therapy. A treatment that is too deep and vigorous may be too much for your body, making you feel flu-like symptoms, pain, fatigue and bruising. It is important to be open about your medical history and your individual needs so as to minimise these side effects. Also, it is especially important for the Oncology therapist to be able adjust their style to your needs.
By having regular Oncology massages, scientific research has shown that the pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression and nausea associated with conventional cancer treatments can be reduced without contributing to further health risks. Other benefits may include improvements in sleep, neuropathy, quality of life, mental clarity and alertness and meaningful social interaction.
