Visceral Manipulation
90% of musculoskeletal pain stems from imbalances within or around your internal organs.
Visceral Manipulation or internal organ mobilization is an Osteopathic technique that corrects the structure and alignment of your internal organs, by gentle mobilization, aiming to restore homeostasis, a natural balance of function.
When in complete working order your organs should slide freely and smoothly in relationship to each other in response to breathing, physical exercise and daily movements. When your organs are affected by trauma (infections, sporting injuries, surgeries, falls and motor vehicle accidents) and this balance is upset, problems can start to arise. The walls of your organs and their associated ligaments can become restricted and taut, and the organs themselves can adhere to each other, causing the organ to work a lot harder to maintain its homeostasis. When homeostasis is lacking and your body’s ability to compensate is diminishing, chronic pain and aliments may start to prevail.
Your body is made up of interrelated components such as bones, muscles, nerves, a thin connective tissue called fascia and your internal organs. Releasing restrictions, tensions and scarring within and around your organs (even if the organ has been surgically removed) can alleviate pain in your muscles and joints and also assist with emotional stress and other functional and structural conditions within your vascular, nervous, reproductive, urinary, respiratory and digestive systems.
